Bandura is Social psychologist, born in December 4, 1925.
Nowadays, he has 88 years old. Bandura is considered one of the most
influential psychologists, with more than 60 years of career.
He received his bachelors degree in Psychology from the
University of British Columbia in 1949. He went on to the University of Iowa,
where he received his Ph.D. in 1952. It was there that he came under the
influence of the behaviorist tradition and learning theory.
Observational Learning
Theory.
This theory consists in presenting the children a model
which conducted an aggressive behaviour against a doll. Children to observe
this fact tended to imitate him, if they saw that the model was awarded acting
more aggressive children.
This theory emerged from concepts such as attention,
motivation, reproduction, retention, reinforces: past, pledged and vicars.
Therapy of self-control.
One of the best known therapies of Bandura is the therapy
of self-control.
The ideas that we used as a basis for the self-regulation
have been incorporated into a therapeutic technique called self-control
therapy. It has been quite successful with relatively simple problems of habits
such as smoking, overeating, and study habits.
For
almost six decades, he has been responsible for contributions to many fields of
psychology, including “social cognitive theory” and “personality psychology”,
and was also influential in the transition between behaviorism and cognitive
psychology.
